Please watch the video of my press conference yesterday at Playland. I’d been poised to say that Ken Jenkins’ incompetence and mismanagement was projected to cost taxpayers at least $46 million between legal fees and arbitration, however, his corrupt sweetheart no-bid deal with Zamperla piles onto beleaguered taxpayers another $1.7 million (approved yesterday by the Board of Acquisition & Contracts). If I’m elected County Executive we will save Playland for future generations and protect taxpayers while restoring accountability and transparency to county government.
I was pleased to be joined by some our fantastic slate of county board candidates, including as pictured (left to right) Braille Diaz, Edwinna Herrera, Laurie Abbate-Ryan, Frank Schanne, Kurt Van Kuller and Kevin Byrnes.
Correction: Playland’s taxpayer subsidy (aka loss) was approx. $4 million in 2010. Over one term the projected subsidy is approx. $16 million or a $32 million loss over two terms.
